If you feel stuck in a rut with your home styling, I actually think there’s a one-step fix that’s guaranteed to breathe new life into your decor. If I were to name one color that’s most effective in giving a home an instant refresh, it would be...
Gold.
Gold, hands down!
And before you immediately shy away and write gold off as too flashy, let me put it to you this way: gold can actually be a very earthy, rustic color. I mean, think about it - it’s a naturally occurring element that literally comes from the earth.
I’m all for using gold for a full-on glamorous look (I’m not a girl who shies away from sparkle), but shades of gold really can enhance a room in a variety of ways that don’t involve blingy flashiness. Gold can provide texture, warmth, a subtle pop of color, and even some natural rawness to a room, which is why I think gold is particularly pretty in rustic home decor.
I’m speaking from experience! My rustic style apartment is filled with pops of gold, and it doesn’t look like a flashy bling palace.
Allow me to take you on a quick picture tour to show you!
Then I’ll dive into a list of some lovely gold things you can buy right now to add an instant pop of pretty to your home. Say goodbye to your decor rut and hello to shades of gold!
So now that you’ve seen how I do that gold decor thing, let’s shop!
1. Anthropologie Gilded Vase
6. Throw Pillows
Ah, this post felt like the interior decor blogger equivalent of Scrooge McDuck diving into his pool of gold coins.
My eyes just feel happy when I take in a spectrum of gold, brass, mustard, and chartreuse. These are my happy colors and materials! And like I said, if you’re feeling kind of bored with your home decor (we all have those phases) and feel the need to change things up a bit, adding some touches of gold is a quick and easy way to level up your style and overall color palette.
Not to mention, now that we’re knee-deep in fall and are heading toward the holiday season, there’s no better time to embrace some gold decor accents in your life. It’s pretty much an instant way to make your space more festive.
