Do you think it's possible to pull off the cozy layers and vintage look of Cottagecore in a tiny studio apartment?
A small studio is kind of like a small cottage, right…? Only… higher up, in the city, and crammed into a building with other apartments… Okay, so the average studio apartment might lack the charm of a cute little cottage on the edge of the forest.
But does that mean you’re prohibited from doing a Cottagecore look in your studio? Of course not! I actually think the two are very well suited for each other.
And in this video, I’m going to prove it to you! I found a 333 sq ft studio apartment listed online, and I’m going to show you how I’d style it with a Cottagecore look – from furniture layout to specific decor pieces.
Between watching the video and scrolling through this blog post, you’ll see that just because you live in a studio in the city doesn’t mean you can’t capture the spirit of a cozy country cottage in your space!
So, here’s the studio apartment I found on apartments.com:

Now, how would I make Cottagecore happen in this studio?
Cottagecore is such a lush, layered, cozy style. And in a lot of ways, it's completely antithetical to this studio’s simple, modern look. And while Cottagecore summons the aesthetic of a cottage in a rural setting, this is an apartment in a city.
But despite how they differ conceptually, both lifestyles embrace a cozy simplicity that gives off the warm and fuzzy feelings we love.
Cottagecore is wholesome, nostalgic, earthy, and vintage—all of which are lovely antidotes to city living.
Studio Apartment Layout
When it comes to figuring out a furniture layout for this studio, I'd probably do is go with what I call the "Couch Divider" layout, which is how I arranged my former studio:
The Couch Divider layout is where the couch is placed parallel to the bed and acts as a divider between the living room and the bedroom area, and I think it would create a nice flow for this particular studio.

Bringing It Together In The Studio
Below are some moodboards and concept designs I put together for this look (all products are linked above), but if you want a more thorough demonstration on how I’d bring it all together in this studio, watch the video!
Between finding the larger focal point pieces (the bed, sofa, and media console) and combining them with the smaller styling details, it's totally possible to achieve Cottagecore in a studio apartment.
Of course, I realize that this was a very hypothetical, virtual demonstration of how I would style this studio, but I stand by my assertion that you can do any interior style in a studio. It might come with more size constraints and some compromises you have to make, but I just don't think size matters when it comes to capturing an interior style in any space.
The good thing about Cottagecore in particular is that it’s meant for a small space anyway. Cottages are typically small, so I think it's a great style to go for in any kind of small space—even if that small space is a city apartment that is pretty much the opposite of everything Cottagecore embodies…
But that's the magic of interior styling! It's a tool that we can use to transport us to different places and head spaces. We can create our own little fantasy worlds through the power of decor.
If you can conceptualize a style—just like I did with this studio—you can find ways to make it happen. It just takes creativity, patience, and a lot of effort, I'll admit. 😉
